How to Make a Corkboard
A corkboard can be a handy organizing tool for your home or office. They come in a variety of sizes and with just a few tacks, you can post important information so that it can be easily seen and remembered. A corkboard is an easy do-it-yourself project, and doesnĄ¯t cost much to create. Cork is a spongy, honeycomb-like material that comes from trees. ItĄ¯s very easy to make your own.
Step 1. Gather your materials to make the corkboard. You will need cork, quarter-inch plywood, molding, a tape measure, a pencil, scissors, glue or rubber cement and a miter saw and nails for connecting the molding.
Step 2. Decide how big you would like your corkboard to be. Measure the space where you plan to hang it, then plot those measurements onto the plywood and carefully cut it to size.
Step 3. Apply glue or rubber cement to the plywood, then firmly press the cork on top. Cut away any excess cork with scissors.
Step 4. Measure the molding to match the length of the plywood on all four sides. Cut the molding to the proper length, then miter the edges.
Step 5. Connect the molding with the nails. Then nail the molding on to the board. You can paint, stain or decoupage the molding frame to add special interest.
